24a-20-Tesla-motor-arm-moving-1“I am now planning aerial machines devoid of sustaining planes, ailerons, propellers, and other external attachments, which will be capable of immense speeds” – Tesla’s autobiography

“To a Westinghouse manager, Tesla wrote ‘You should not be at all surprised, if some day you see me fly from New York to Colorado Springs in a contrivance which will resemble a gas stove and weigh as much. … and could, if necessary enter and depart through a window.’” (7-7-1912) ( it will be a small box, not a huge “cigar” )

plus… a 16,000 Joule 12,000 volt capacitor bank for hugely powerful discharges. Half a gigawatt of peak power used for Can crushing, coinshrinking, exploding wires and many other experiments.

Other capacitor banks with electronic switching drive projectile devices such as a rail gun and coil gun. Other HV stuff stuff includes voltage multipliers, Van de Graaff generator, Jacobs ladder, lifters and other high voltage supplies. Various lasers including a homemade ultraviolet nitrogen laser, NdYAG, HeNe and CO2. Magnetohydrodynamic drive, 800 A spotwelder. Also miscellaneous electronic projects and a few half baked ideas…

turbofluxtestunitTesla Turbine — Bladeless Boundary Disc : Rather than using blades and friction, the Tesla Turbine uses parallel, closely spaced disks that tap viscosity. Aerodynamic skin adhesion effect resists fluid or gas flow between plates, resulting in energy transfer to the shaft. Technology works but is yet to break into marketplace.

4SpokeRunner-1

Here are dimensioned drawings of the major pieces of the 6 inch turbine housing upgrade components, plus runner disc and star washer drawings. Note the washer drawing shows both short spoke and long spoke varieties. Short spoke star washers were used in constructing the transparent runner assembly described below. [cite tesla long spoke improvement patent here someday]

sparkySTATEMENT OF INTENT
Lightning On Demand is a collaboration of engineers, artists, scientists and machinists. Our main objective is to develop an experimental facility suitable for the study of natural electrical phenomena.
The design for the Nevada Lightning Laboratory features a phased pair of Tesla Coils, 122 feet tall. The 8 megawatt twin coils will be capable of generating electrical discharges several hundred feet in length, with the goal of re-creating the essential components of natural lightning in a laboratory environment.
