125waterwheel-2Low-impact lifestyler extraordinaire, John Hermans, devised and built a water wheel for Earth Garden’s writer and forest campaigner, Jill Redwood. Jill can now refill her water tank from the Brodribb River near her farmhouse in Victoria’s East Gippsland. Her water wheel is silent, pumps about a litre a minute, goes 24 hours a day, has only one small moving part, and works on an ancient principle. Here John describes how to build one.
